On June 20, Ron Gansevoort, Professor of Internal Medicine and one of the consortium leaders of Check@Home, received the Wiek van Gilst Collaboration Award. The award was presented at the conference of the Dutch CardioVascular Alliance (DCVA) and the Netherlands Heart Institute (NLHI) held at the Geertekerk in Utrecht. This prize honors individuals who have initiated exceptional collaborative projects in the fields of cardiovascular and kidney diseases.
The Dutch Kidney Foundation nominated Ron Gansevoort in recognition of his years of effort to establish population screening for albuminuria for the early detection of chronic kidney disease. To achieve this, Ron has organized several large-scale projects involving extensive collaboration among various parties. Examples include the PREVEND study, the THOMAS study, and the recently launched Check@Home consortium.
Ron Gansevoort received a plaque and €10,000, which he will use to organize an invitational conference together with the Dutch Kidney Foundation to prepare stakeholders for population screening for the ealry detection of chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.
